Susie Q Bangkok

SUSIE Q is a brand-new Hip Hop club, located on Khaosan Road. The modern venue is kept in a vintage style, illuminated in distinct red color, and features a giant disco ball above the dance-floor. The drinks menu features a variety reasonably priced spirits, standard drinks and beers. Opening times are daily from 7pm until late.

The buzz: The team behind recently closed Blaq Lyte—Thonglor’s former most popping nightclub—have taken an unexpected turn with their latest digs on touristy Khaosan Road, where the hip-hop soundtrack remains but a more chilled and friendly atmosphere prevails.

The decor: Taking over what was decades-ago the popular Susie Pub on Khaosan offshoot, Susie Road, the guys have fought to maintain the classic ‘60s vibe with a giant disco ball in front of the DJ booth, black and white photographs, red lights aplenty and old wooden seating arrangements.

The drinks: Standard pub drinks but without the Thonglor prices. Here, you can open a bottle of Beefeater gin for B1,400; a bottle of Chivas Extra will only set you back B2,600, but you might as well get two for B3,990 since they’re offering such a huge discount. All bottle openings come with eight mixers and a bucket of ice. If bottles aren’t your thing, a pint of Chang will set you back B160, or the ultimate get-drunk cocktail, Long Island Iced Tea, only costs B200. When the kitchen is completed in the near future, “drunk food” will also be available—think burgers, fries, things you crave when you’re boozing.

The music: Exactly what Blaq Lyte used to play: hip-hop (almost) every night with something a little different on Thursdays.

The crowd: Although the music is still very Blaq Lyte, the vibe is totally different. Here, they welcome everyone—there was a table of grandpas hanging when we visited—while the cool streetwear kids from the old days have followed the music. But the point is, everyone is much friendlier in this place.

The Beginning of Nathong Terrace Bar
Back to 1984, Ratchadapisek road was just built and full of wasteland. Only few buildings were situated on the road and some of them were being built at that time. Nathong Terrace Bar that could serve large groups of customers were not available much at the time. Garden style restaurant became famous in Bangkok because it was more difficult to find some relaxing place to enjoy having lunch or dinner on the balcony above the pond and overlooking on the green garden around them, which has been a pleasant experience of eye and tasteful food.

Nathong Terrace Bar & Restaurant
After spent more than 20 years in famous Chinese restaurant in Chinatown, Mr.Theerachai Ngamnararut, the founder of Nathong Terrace Bar & restaurant, has opened the Chinese food catering business to subcontract in popular hotels. Later on, he decided to open his first restaurant on the Ratchadapisek road and pinned his restaurant on the map of Bangkok. He combined his knowledge on Tae-chew Chinese food with favorite local Thai dishes as well as his determination and honesty to serve the best quality food to his customers.

Our recent location has been located near Meng-Jai Intersection on Prachauthit road, Huay-Kwang. We expanded our restaurant to serve more customers. We still keep our commitment on serving quality and delicious local Thai and Chinese food as well as fresh seafood to customers. Customers can enjoy having food on the wooden balcony along the natural pond. We also provide the in-house contemporary Thai style house seatings, private rooms, karaoke rooms and function rooms to cater different needs and requests of customers. Operating hour: 6pm to 2am Daily

Saxophone Bar is a blues and jazz bar in Bangkok that features a cocktail bar and a restaurant adorned in jazz and blues paraphernalia as well as live music regularly. It’s one of the best live music bars in Bangkok – and the oldest jazz clubs in the city.

Established in 1987, Saxophone Bar Bangkok is internationally renowned for its music. The bar features live jazz and blues music most nights, which usually starts around 11pm, and the weekends are usually extremely busy (getting a seat after 9pm can often be difficult).

Saxophone Bangkok features local and international jazz and blues acts, including the likes of the Swing Kings and Thai legends on the scene such as Koh Mr. Saxman, T-Bone Band, JRP Little Big Band and The Emergency.

Guests to Saxophone Bar can start their evening with a meal at the in-house restaurant, which includes popular options such as Thai green curry and grilled pork neck. The venue also features a cocktail bar serving up classic cocktails, including Tequila Sunrise and Margarita.

Located close to Victory Monument BTS Skytrain Station, the venue is popular among both locals and visitors and there’s no cover charge. The venue also hosts monthly art exhibitions from local Thai artists and usually donates all of the revenues to local charities that support children's' education.

With a weekly schedule of rotating jazz, funk, big band, reggae and blues, this rarest-of-venues features two to three sets a night.
For locals into Bangkok's burgeoning live music scene, Bangkok's Saxophone Bar is an institution.

The famous jazz and blues pub first opened in 1987 and has won many accolades since then for the live music. Its foreigner friendly vibe and ease of access (it is but a short walk from the skytrain) have made a perennial favourite among tourists who like a bit of solid music in a comfortable setting.

The bar decor appears to be a chain restaurant gone wrong, but it's actually quite charming inside. Also, they have ice in their urinals, something that never fails to impress your correspondent. The food can be hit and miss, but no one really comes here for the food — it's for the fantastic music. Check their website for the weekly list of sets.

The bar is also known for its drinks, but they are not cheap and you might want to have a street side beer or two before your set. On the other hand, they do have a staggeringly extensive (over 100 options) cocktail list, directly from 1982, when Technicolor layered drinks were all the rage.
